Yea, I need to take some pics, but also have to 'stage' them first. Need more display cabinets and stuff like that. I have a pretty large Aero Mini collection, as far as Aero Minis go. They did not have the variety that newer productions have like Gemini, Inflight, & Herpa etc. But I have several AA 727s (100 series only with Aero Minis), 707s & 1 AA 747, a couple of TWA 727s, 707s, several DC-9-10s, & 1 (or 2?) 747s, a few United 737-100s, a few Piedmont 737-100s, many Ozark DC-9-10s (My fav little airline - flew them a lot 'back in the day' 'cuz Fam is in near Springfield, MO), a couple Northwest 727-100s, 707s, & 2 747s, several Eastern 727-100s, DC-9-10s, & 1 DC-8, 1 Japan Airlines DC-8, a couple of Braniff 727-100s one red and one blue, Pan Am 707s & 1 747, and a few 'modernized' Aero-minis like a Delta 727-100, USAIR 737-100s.
I have other models from 'back in the day' as well, smaller Bachmans & Lintoys like TWA L-1011s and Air France L-1011s, and more recently a really cool Hogan TWA 757 w/ stand. I have a great love for TWA & Ozark airlines since I flew them a lot growing up going back & forth w/ my parents between DC and St. Louis on TWA and then the little Ozark flights down to Springfield on Fokker Fairchild F-27s (luv those old props) & early DC-9-10s & 30s. Ozark in the 80s actually expanded greatly & had also flights from DC (National) to St. Louis regularly. Even had one flight that went on to Springfield w/out a change !
Ah, I miss those days oh so very much. Used to fly from Dulles to the west coast with Dad to LA and San Fran on TWA L-1011s, United DC-10s, and American DC-10s. Btw, LA Rocks no matter what anyone says.
I was fired up about Gemini's line of 250 scale models 'cuz the wheels retracted like the aero-minis and were more modern and better detail. So I almost forgot that I do have a Delta DC-8 !
thanks matt i use to live in independence do you know of any air shows coming down around my area? thanks and nice collection heres a couple of photos of my first 2 planes they were cheap just $2.00 each ive just started in the planes with only the military ones i do mostly plastic models but couldnt pass these up
Thank you very much Matt. I recently became interested in collecting model planes. So far I have a Air jamaica new livery Herpa 1/500 on pre order and i recently got lucky finding a Caribbean Airlines 1/200 Boeing 737-800 from " The Airplane Shop".
Thanks for the welcome.I will be offering many items from an estate i have been givin the chance to help with.It has plans, motors, kits and all that can be thought of thru out the estate. It is being handled with respect as to the owner who has passed. Will need help in describing items?
Hello! My name is Jason Ngo and I'm excited to announce my intent of starting a new website - www.airlinemodelworld.com! hey Matt thanks for the warm welcome. i have begun collecting model air crafts and so far have around 65 in my collection.. am looking out to get more of the retro models cause they fascinate me and i wish to some day have a collection that i could display on the aviation history right from the first air crafts the Kitty Hawk to the modern day planes... I would like to seek your advise from where i could order good models with detail in the scale of 1:250, 1:200, 1:400 ... i love these models.. looking for ward for your suggestions and advise.. oh yes i do normally order from airline museum as they are the only ones who ship to where i live in the UAE (Dubai)... cheers
Thanks for the warm welcome as a new member of the forum. I'm trying to construct a very basic set of ground foils and a runway (1:200) for my son. I very much appreciated the ground foils I was able to download from this site. Do you know if anyone has developed corresponding runway foils that would "fit" with the ground ones?
Thanks Matt! I really enjoy your site and as long as I collect model airplanes, I will continue to use it and improve my knowledge of it. Happy collecting!
Thanks Matt. He was big collector. He passed away suddenly last year. I am only getting round to building database of all planes. Lot of Gemini, herpa wings, etc..list too big to mention. A lot never even made it out of box. He used his whole loft for airstrip etc...had simulators (expensive ones too) along with a lot of DVDs of cockpit view coming into various airports throughout the world. Can't say too much more about him personally because his life ended tragically and is possible people on here knew him. I will soon have the entire list available for communication.
Yeah sorry Ive been so busy. I sometimes get a chance to buy some models, but I havent really taken any pictures in a while. Ive been pretty much MIA on DAC too haha. I will try to come on more often :D
