I collect 1/200 and 1/400 scale Die-Cast Airplanes. Right now I would have to say Gemini Jets is my favorite manufacturer. I currently have 284 planes in my collection. My favorite plane at the moment would have to be my 1/200 American Airlines 777-200 from Gemini Jets followed closely by the KLM 777-300. I started collecting in January of 2009 so I have not been at it for very long. I have always loved airplanes but had no idea about the die-cast planes being produced until a visit one afternoon to Trot's Toys and Collectibles in Overland Park, KS. I was hooked! I purchase almost every plane I get from Troy, with the exception of one or two that have long been sold out! I display my models in very large lighted curio cabinets. I find that having them in-closed helps to keep the dust off and protects them from being damaged. I cannot wait until Gemini Jets produces an Airbus A380 or even an A340 in 1/200 Die-Cast! I look forward to seeing everyone's collections as well! Enjoy the site!

It was time for a larger cabinet! The smaller one went to my parents!

Moved the cabinet to a new wall!
Why?
To make room for another cabinet!

The second cabinet!
Filled with 1:250 and 1:400 Models

Another cabinet acquired from work just to store some of the nice looking boxes!

A little crowded.... Looking for another cabinet.

Had to box up all of my 1:250 and 1:400 scale to make room for my 1:200 scale
planes in both of my large cabinets.
The Hudson River Special.
My first two planes from Aviation200. Both 777-200's.
Was almost scared to display this plane in the middle of the shelf. It weighs a TON!

What a plane! One of the nicest 1:200 Die-Cast planes ever produced!

Should we invest in Model Airplane Collectors 2.0?

Posted on February 23, 2016 at 12:57pm 8 Comments

Members,

I have been frustrated for some time with the hosting platform that I built Model Airplane Collectors on. I have wanted to build in additional features for a long time but my hands are tied without full access to the back end programming. I also do not have the power to pick up and move our content to another server of my own on a platform that I build from the ground up.

With that said I have the knowledge and the means now to provide the absolute best…

This is our first attempt at a major purchase for our future aviation museum. I am hoping we can gain enough support to preserve this piece of aviation history!

Please join our Kickstarter campaign and help out if you can! We have 15 days to try and make this happen!

Thanks Matt. He was big collector. He passed away suddenly last year. I am only getting round to building database of all planes. Lot of Gemini, herpa wings, etc..list too big to mention. A lot never even made it out of box. He used his whole loft for airstrip etc...had simulators (expensive ones too) along with a lot of DVDs of cockpit view coming into various airports throughout the world. Can't say too much more about him personally because his life ended tragically and is possible people on here knew him. I will soon have the entire list available for communication.
