Well everyone!  Yesterday I made another trip down to Dallas!  This is the third time since last October I've been at DFW.  Now yesterday wasn't a spotting trip.  It was a trip to visit some of my girlfriends family, so all in all the time I spent at the airport was only around 2 and 1/2 hours all day.  However, I did see quite a bit of neat stuff while I was there!

I left Joplin at 7:00am and had a very bumpy flight down to Dallas.  There were weather systems building in the area, and the temp has been getting much warmer, so the wind and turbulence were causing problems all the way down, but we did leave and arrive on time!

First off since it was a trip to see family I didn't even take my camera, so I just got these pics of a.net to show you what I saw.

The Super ATR I'd be flying this time was N548AT!  And like i mentioned above we boarded on time!

Coming into Dallas we landed on the closest runway to the cargo ramp and American Mx facilities (I don't know what runway it was, I could look but it's really not that important.)  There was the normal UPS MD-11 sitting there and plenty of AA MD-80s and 757s, but the one plane that really caught was this!

Air Transport International - ATI Douglas DC-8-73(F)

This one just happened to be the top of the a.net most viewed right now, so I pulled it into this too!

It's always nice to see older planes still flying!  I was really glad to get to see this bird!

After landing we quickly headed out to meet our ride, and didn't really see much else except the one that caught my eye as we were driving out!

After spending the day with the girlfriends family we went back to the airport and this time had a bit more time to spend a the airport.  We arrived at around 5:00pm and our flight boarded at 6:55.  This is when we saw most of the interesting stuff!  Well when I say we I mean me because my girlfriend could care less hahaha.  While eating right after we'd arrived we saw the later afternoon American heavies coming in!

American Airlines Boeing 767-323ER/WL

This was the first time I'd seen a American 767 with winglets!  All the others I'd ever seen had no winglets.

We also saw the American Eagle Breast Cancer ERJ!

American Eagle Embraer EMB-145LR (ERJ-145LR)

As we were waking down to gate B36 we saw the best stuff of the day!

Lufthansa Airbus A330-343X

British Airways Boeing 747-436 (Oneworld livery)

American Eagle ATR ATR-72-500 (ATR-72-212A) (Support Our Troops Livery)

But out of all of those the one that surprised me the most was this beast!

Omni Air International Douglas DC-10-30ER

I was walking towards my gate, in terminal B where usually the largest plane is a CRJ-700, and saw this beast parked at one of the gates.  Gate 33 or 34 if I remember correctly.  All I could see at first was the nose, but instantly knew it had to be something cool to be parked at terminal B!  It was of course a military charter.  I assume taking troops somewhere overseas.  Iraq, or Japan probably.  It was a awesome surprise!

After that interesting surprise it was time to head home, and I was surprised again when I saw that the plane that would take me home was the exact same plane that had taken me home from DFW last time I flew home.  N550LL.

The flight home was much smoother since the weather had settled down.  We departed and arrived on time and would deplane via the door stairs instead of the jetway this time.  Which is always fun!  All in all it was a great trip, and I was glad to have seen so much in so little time at the airport!
