New Announcements from Hobby Master and Air Force 1 models.

The 1:48 Scale P-38 Lightning is sure to big and beautiful!
The second highest-scoring American pilot of World War II, Major Thomas McGuire of the 475th Fighter Group tallied his first kill on August 18, 1943 — a day he took down three Imperial warbirds. The following day, after two more victories, he was already an ace.

All of Major McGuire's kills were scored in P-38 Lightnings of which he flew numerous iterations, each nicknamed after his new wife: "Pudgy" While piloting "Pudgy IV" on October 24, 1944, McGuire shot down two Oscars over the Philippines before being forced to land and give up his cherished warplane to the 49th Fighter Group, a unit which suffered heavy attrition.

This 1/48 scale, die cast reproduction of McGuire's "Pudgy IV" features a striking attention to historical detail including authentic nose art, a glazed canopy, optional-position landing gear, and an all-metal display stand.

Hobby Master notes:
Among the highlights, you'll find an F-86E Sabre replicating a warbird piloted in Korea by two American aces: Colonel Gabby Gabreski and Major William H. Westcott, both of the 51st FIW. Also, the T-38A Talon salutes a pioneer in the field of women's aviation: record-setting pilot, Jackie Cochran. Finally, the Spitfire Mk.IXc featured in today's announcement is a unique tribute to Pierre Clostermann - the top French ace of the Second World War who tallied 33 kills and earned the nickname "France's First Fighter" by Charles de Gaulle.

As always, this 1/72 or 1/48 scale, die cast models come with an impressive assortment of features including authentic historic markings, a hand-painted pilot figure, dynamic moveable parts, optional-position landing gear, and a display base.
