TRIP REPORT - DEN-MCI United Airlines

This is the return trip of the previous trip report I posted that went from MCI-DFW-DEN.  That trip report can be found here:

Due to scheduling of those I was visiting I arrived at the only 9 hours ahead of my flight, but I'm not complaining!  I love spending a whole day at the airport.  It is what I want to go into after I finish my schooling.  I arrived at 7:00 am, and my flight was scheduled to depart at 5:00 pm.  This gave me plenty of time to take in all Denver had to offer!  I've spent a lot of time at Denver over the years, since I fly United a lot, but I'd never had this long to spot, and just hang out.

So here are some of the hundreds and hundreds of pictures I took that day.  I tried to get some other stuff and United, but there is plenty of United too!

These next few are of N805UA which I've flown on twice before.  One of only two United aircraft I've flown more than once.  The other was N385UA which is now retired.  The last time I flew N805UA though she was still wearing the battleship livery.  Throughout the 9 hours I was walking the terminals, and spotting this A319 - N805UA took 4 different flights.  When i first saw her in the morning she was boarding for OKC, then I saw her pulling back in later and started boarding for TUL, then she was back again going to I don't remember where, and about 30 minutes before my flight left I saw her pulling back into a gate to make a trip to Chicago.  Seeing that really puts it in to perspective what the word "workhorse" means.  It's really impressive and amazing they can keep these planes in as good of shape that they do considering how much they are in the air!

N805UA is also the aircraft Hogan used when they made their 1:200 United A319-100 in their battleship colors.  So this aircraft does have a model of it!  Just it a previous livery.

My hats off to aircraft like N805UA.  It's aircraft like this that keep airlines going!

These next two was the highlight of the day!  My favorite type of aircraft!

Although I would have liked to see a A346 in a different livery it was still nice too see!

It was also a nice surprise to see the US Airways Allegheny Airlines Heritage A319-100!

I was never able to get a good picture of her since she was parked at the last gate, so you couldn't get down far enough to get a good shot, but it was good to see her all the same.  I'd been wanting to for a while!

And here we have another special guest!  New Mexico One!  9 hours of Southwest arrivals, and this was the only special livery I saw.

I was hoping to see more Southwest special liveries this day, but I wouldn't see anymore at Denver.

I have hundreds and hundreds of photos from this day!  All in all it was a great relaxing day at the airport!

After the long day of spotting I headed to my gate to board my plane.  I hadn't been down near the gate for awhile so all I knew was that it was gonna be a A319.  I didn't know that I had actually taken a photo of it a few minutes before being towed to the gate!  I'd be flying home on N825UA.

I took this photo just minutes before I made my way to the gate, not knowing at the time it was the plane I'd be boarding soon!

After I boarded I could see nothing but new colored United planes everywhere, but I wasn't complaining.  I enjoy flying the good old battleship livery!

After we got airborne the clouds kept building higher and bigger the closer we got to Kansas City.

I was able to snap these two brilliant photos just seconds before we dipped back into the clouds on our decent into Kansas City.  I didn't do anything to these photos except sharpen them up a bit.  This was what we were seeing!

Like I just mentioned seconds after those two photos were taken we were covered by clouds, and this was my view.

And I had one last surprise yet to end the trip!  After landing we got to see Triple Crown One, and California One.  Unfortunately I didn't get a shot of California One as it was taxiing by on the other side of the aircraft, but I did get a quick shot of Triple!

Here is a little history on N825UA!

In the end it was a great day with lots of spotting, and few nice surprises!  Unfortunately no Shamu, but there will be another day for that!  I bet N825UA has very similar days to N805UA that I talked about earlier.  N825UA may be a good candidate to be the first A319 to wear the new United/Continental livery too!  It's always a pleasure to fly the baby buses!
