All,

As I am new to the 1/200 scale environment, what are your opinions on the better/best makers of the 1/200 models?  I have a few, all different manufacturers and wonder what to look for.

Thanks for your time and input!

Hello Eric,

Gemini 200 is certainly one of the most respectable 1:200 brands. Personally, I only collect Gemini Jets scale 1:400. But I guess if they are doing a terrific job with the small models, they will certainly be doing the same with the bigger ones.

All the best,

Ahmed

Hello, Eric !!

Though not a specialist of Airliners, the few 1/400 models Airliners/ Military freighters I got make me agree with my distinguished colleague Ahmed (LOL!).

The best 1/400 are from Gemini (vs Dragon for instance) . But I can't speak for other brands (of the same scale).

The 1/200 ought to be a better battlefield for these brands, as a larger scale theorically facilitate more detailed models.

As Ahmed said, sure Gemini has a very good place, but certainly other brands may compete too.

Not easy to give advices in this situation, but members of groups may help you here :

I have a few 1/200 model planes from Flight Miniatures. I like them; they are plastic with solid build and vibrant colors. Risesoon also make good products in this range.

Hi Eric,

1/200 is an excellent scale to collect!  So far I have mostly airliners, but I've come to find some of the military offerings very impressive in detail!  I don't collect any plastic / resin models, so i strictly prefer metal models...  I own models from the following manufacturers and highly recommend Gemini Jets, JC Wings, Inflight (I could only recommend 747's), and Aviation 200 (again, i only recommend 747's).

The Best of...

727-200 - Jet-X

737-500, 700, 800:  Gemini Jets

737-200:  Jet-X mould (used by JC Wings)

757-200 - Gemini Jets

767-300WL - Gemini Jets

777 - Gemini Jets, JC Wings - (Note:  look for 2014 777 releases with improved GE-90 engines)

747 - Inflight

DC-6 - Herpa

Viscount 800 - Herpa (note:  vertical and horiz. stabs are made of plastic)

E-2 Hawkeye - Gulliver 200

Avoid these:

Any and all Inflight 737's

Hobby Master A-310

Very good info mike. Thanks for sharing.
