Thanks for all of the support for the Magazine! I am receiving lots of emails and I have to say the response has been about 50/50 in support of the Magazine and the photo module. I am going to do everything I can to continue publishing the Magazine and also keep the photo module so that everyone can share their entire collections with everyone. This will mean investing in some server space and possibly purchasing some editing software for the magazine. Several members have mentioned a willingness to contribute a small monthly subscription fee in an effort to keep the site and all of its features up and running. I have always wanted to keep the site free to join so I have decided to introduce a tier subscription plan. This would allow everyone to join and remain a member for free. Everyone will still be able to maintain their member profiles and upload photographs to their profile page for free by inserting pictures into their text boxes provided on their profile page. This is how we did things before the photo module was introduced. For those who wish to view photographs uploaded to the photo module and view every blog post entry on the site there will be a small monthly subscription fee of $3.00. For those who wish to not only view all of the photographs and blog entries but would also like the option to upload unlimited photographs, submit unlimited blog posts, and comment on other member's blog posts there will be a monthly subscription fee of $5.00. Included in the $5.00 package is a subscription to the online magazine. How does this sound to everyone? It is about the only option that would allow for keeping all features of the site while at the same time not charging members who choose not to use some of the more advanced features of the site. I want to bring everyone the best site possible but it is going to have to be a community effort! You can help contribute to the site and receive a full membership for just over $1.00 a week! Thank you for all of your ideas and suggestions!

Jean-Francios (Jeff) - I have yet to implement the subscription plan. I am trying to work out the best possible plan that takes everyone's ideas into account. I want the basic site to remain free as this was my plan from the beginning. I want to give everyone the best place on the internet for model airplane collectors to call home! I also want to give the members the most advanced and exciting site possible. In order to continue to allow every member the option to upload an unlimited amount of photographs of their collection to the site I am going to ask for a small monthly fee to help pay for the server space. I also do not want the contributing members who upload and share their personal collections to the site to have to cover the entire cost as it is those members who give everyone else something new to see each and every day. For this reason I am asking members who just wish to come and see what is new and exciting but don't choose to upload their own photos to help share the cost by subscribing at a lower price.

I had to ask myself what I would be willing to spend in exchange for my own personal webpage, my own personal blog, and my own personal photo album to upload and share an unlimited amount of photographs of my entire collection.... I also had to ask myself  "would this monthly fee eat into my collecting budget?"

With this in mind I felt that asking $5.00 a month for unlimited access to the site was very fair. Just a little more than $1.00 a week. While that may sound like a very small price it will allow me to continue to provide the absolute best website possible and keep both the photo module and the magazine for everyone to enjoy. I want this website and community to continue to grow but more important to me are the close friendships and relationships I have made with each and every one of you. That is why the basic website will always remain free. No member will be expected to pay to belong or pay to stay. I really hope everyone shares my opinion!

Brandon,

At the moment everyone who subscribes at the $5.00 level will receive a link to the Online Magazine. If I can save enough money I would like to find a publisher to publish a hard copy of the magazine and mail it to subscribers. The Magazine PDF file is a little too large to upload and email to each subscribing member. It made more sense to provide a link so that each member could download a copy if they choose or just allow them to view the magazine remotely from our server.

I hope this helps!

just one question Matt

does this mean we'll get a copy of the magazine emailed to us or will it still just be accessible online from the site?

thanks, Brandon

How to subscribe? There is yet a subscribing level but no way to the subscribing form?
