Hello All, As a newcommer, I join Scale Model Collectors from very humble and lowly origins. I almost feel out of place and unworthy to be here having viewed some of the awesome collections and amazing photos. I have always had a deep passion for aviation, more especially military. I used to collect and build plastic kits such as Revell and Airfix models 1:72 which i have in a small display cabinet. I always thought they were cool till I browsed this site and saw some of the stuff. So not feeling brave enough to post their photos just yet!

I recently came across Maisto Tailwinds in my local store. I bought Eurofighter Typhoon and A10 Thunderbolt for my cabinet. I decided to present these differently and build a small airfield! Since Tailwinds scales are quite random, I built my airfield to 1:144 scale and visually i think it works. I'll hopefully share my creation when I gain a little more confidence and raport. Its my first model attempt. I am working on a movie project to present the airfield but this is very much work in progress. I hope to grow here and improve both quality and quantity of my collection. Suggestions of routes i can progress would be welcomed. Here are two Maisto Tailwinds attached. Not sure they deserve a place but had to attach something.

Hello Ike and welcome to the site. I also started my collection with Maisto models but i think the first ones i bought were the A-10, F-16 and Mirage 2000. That was back when I was 12 years old (I am 27 now). Good luck expanding ur collection but u certainly need to move beyond Maisto and start collecting 1:72 and 1:48 scale from Hobby Master, Corgi, Witty, Century Wings, and Altaya. In the UK u have many good stores. I personally buy from Jumblies and Southview aviation art.
